Carnivore

Feeling rather carnivorous today.

Roof Top Gardens

Photograph Tim Hurley 2010
It is definitely the time of year to consider gardens. This is my favourite garden design and allows me to imagine a more exciting future. It is designed and planted as the roof of the Natural History Museum in San Francisco. It is planted with native grasses, sedges, flowers and plants that provide food for birds and insects. It also functions as insulation and a delightful place to gather one's thoughts.

Automaton at the Musee

Found these lovely automatons at the Musee on the Pier in San Francisco.
Beautiful, handmade and very, very dusty.

National Aboriginal Day

Rolling Thunder Mountain is one of the most moving and remarkable works I have ever witnessed. It was sculpted and worked on for years by Chief Rolling Thunder as a way to honour the struggles of the American Indian. He built a home from pop bottles, tons of cement and the things he picked up out of the desert. Some of this work is three stories high.

His neighbours hated the place and burnt down a hostel he built out of caring and concern for aboriginal kids. This broke his heart and he stopped working.

A few people are trying to care for the place and have managed to get it designated a protected place in Nevada. They get by with a few donations from passersby and caring individuals.

Lookit What I Did

Been playing around with the computer without help. Obviously needs a bit more tweaking but this is the start in reclaiming imagery that works better for me.

Tim's sight has improved slightly. He is feeling so much better. He is still on lots of steroids to improve the optic inflammation. Rather like living with Data or a gerbil on crack. Made for a very interesting few weeks.

One more Wells project finally complete. Will return Jean Macintosh jewelry by tomorrow hopefully. Made her a little . Paula Scott's shawl and the nightmare mobile for Pat Schmidt's are both well underway. Cannot believe it sucked me so dry to complete projects.

Have been so completely distracted lately.

Textural Obsession

Here are some of the textural images that Tim and I collected on our April trip . I pointed ...he clicked ... vice versa.

These will probably all be duplicated in my sketchbooks and inspiration books for further explorations.

Rolling Inspiration

Some of the images from travels to Pendleton, Oregon and the Great Salt Lake, Utah.
Tim took the pictures before his surgery. I point... he shoots. I growl and complain...he drives. I leap out of moving cars when inspired to do so...he slows down. He leads...I follow...I lead ...he follows.

Can't wait to get back to normal. Or the new normal.
